About the role
We have an exciting opportunity within our Land Development team in Wellington for a Team Leader position. This is an integral role where you'll have the opportunity to lead on the delivery of some of HG biggest projects, help raise the profile of HG's Land Development offering in Wellington and contribute towards our vision of being the #1 urban development partner in Aotearoa.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide technical and people leadership to a team of civil engineers and civil designers to deliver a wide range of land development projects from initial concept design through to construction completion.
- Proactively review team performance, ensuring efficient project delivery while being hands-on with preliminary designs, supervising detailed designs, calculations, plans, on-site investigations, and technical development.
- Support professional development within your team through mentorship and guidance in an environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Maintain existing client relationships, lead business development initiatives, prepare proposals, and contribute to strategic growth by expanding client portfolios and identifying new opportunities.
- Play a key role in shaping better urban development for a diverse range of public and private clients across Aotearoa.
Your skills and experience
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- CPEng status is preferred.
- 8+ years as a Civil Engineer delivering land development projects in New Zealand.
- Ideally 2+ years team leadership experience with the ability to drive a positive, inclusive and high performing culture.
- Civil design skills in either 12D or Civil3D.
- Proven track record in client relationship management and identification of opportunities, ideally within the local and regional market
- Strong land development skills and knowledge including site selection analysis; feasibility studies; urban design concepts and engineering designs.
