About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Planner to join our team in Christchurch or Wellington. Working in a small, friendly and collaborative Planning team, this is a key role to shape the future of our urban environments. From small and unique to complex and large scale, you’ll lead diverse projects that include strategic and policy planning, resource consenting and feasibility and advisory services.
You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, surveyors, urban designers and environmental specialists to enhance our environment and deliver integrated planning solutions. Key responsibilities include:
Provide technical leadership, project management and planning solutions to deliver a range of urban development and infrastructure projects.
Provide best-practice planning advice and strategic solutions that balance the needs of our clients with the broader community and the environment.
Support professional development within the team through mentorship and guidance in an environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Maintain existing client relationships and drive business development initiatives such as leveraging your existing network and identifying opportunities to enhance HG’s future project prospects.
Work alongside the Planning Manager in the implementation of the regional strategic business plan including growth strategy, business development, marketing strategies and budget targets as well as demonstrating and embedding values and expected behaviours.
Be a recognised urban development leader, stay up to date with industry changes or amendments and relay these changes across the business.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree in planning or resource management, or equivalent tertiary qualification.
Full NZPI membership or eligibility to become a full member.
10+ years experience in planning/resource management, with a strong understanding of the RMA and local planning frameworks.
Experience working within a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment, including the preparation of resource consents and policy development
Excellent verbal and written communications skills plus the ability to establish collaborative relationships at multiple levels.
Personal leadership, motivation, and self-management skills.
