About the role

As Harrison Grierson continues to strengthen how data supports our work, we are looking for an Analytics Engineer to help build the foundations for better insights, smarter decisions, and more efficient delivery across the business.

We’re open to candidates with strengths in data engineering, data analytics, or a blend of both. At its core, this role is about building trusted data and turning it into value. You’ll work with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into well-structured data assets, insights, and tools that support better decisions across the business.

In practice, this means helping HG strengthen both the foundations of our data and the way it is used to support decision-making. You will contribute to building reliable data platforms and pipelines, while also helping teams turn data into clear insights that improve how we operate and advise clients.

Key responsibilities include:

• Build and maintain data pipelines, integrations, and well-structured datasets that support reliable reporting and analytics.

• Strengthen HG’s data platform by improving how data is organised, reused, and managed across the business.

• Implement data quality and validation practices to improve the reliability and trustworthiness of our data.

• Apply analytics and modelling to operational and advisory questions, helping teams explore scenarios and identify insights.

• Translate data into clear, decision-ready outputs such as dashboards, reporting, and practical analysis.

• Work with stakeholders and digital teams to deliver joined-up data solutions and improve how insights are used.

• Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve how data and insights are delivered and leveraged.

About you

We’re open to a variety of backgrounds and career journeys, and value the different perspectives they bring. In this role, you’ll draw on:

• A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. data, analytics, information systems, engineering, or similar), or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience in data engineering, data analytics, or a hybrid role combining both.

• Confidence working with data and translating needs into practical solutions.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams.

• A pragmatic, curious mindset with a focus on delivering reliable, useful outcomes.

• Experience with cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, Power BI environments, or spatial data is advantageous.
