About the role
Our Tauranga team has a strong forward workload, with large-scale greenfield and brownfield residential developments, infrastructure, and commercial and industrial projects in the pipeline.
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Site Engineer with land development design capability who’s keen to contribute to the successful delivery of these major land development projects across the Bay of Plenty.
Key responsibilities include:
- Represent HG during the construction phase of projects, performing the role of Engineer’s Representative or Engineer to the Contract.
- Contribute to detailed civil design using software such as 12d Model and Civil 3D.
- Implement and manage quality systems to audit and certify construction work, ensuring completion on schedule and within budget.
- Lead on-site engineering activities, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery across a range of large-scale civil projects.
- Monitor and certify land development construction contracts, including roading and three waters infrastructure.
- Prepare tender and construction documentation, Development Completion Reports, s224 applications, and process and certify claims.
- Chair site meetings, undertake site investigations and construction monitoring.
- Apply your knowledge of NZS3910 and civil construction contracts in day-to-day project delivery.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and third parties on project requirements and interests.
- Proactively address construction and design queries through different phases of the project.
- Manage project budgets efficiently to support cost-effective delivery and uphold quality standards.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years’ experience in a similar role, ideally with experience as a Site Engineer for a main contractor in New Zealand.
- Detailed civil design experience using software such as 12d Model, Civil 3D, AutoCAD.
- Sound understanding of land development construction monitoring and contract administration.

- Knowledge of local council codes, guidelines and consenting processes to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Personal leadership, motivation, and self-management skills.
